Beneficiary: Techinnova S.p.A.
Call: Digital Transition of Lombardy Enterprises
Priority Axis 1 – “A MORE COMPETITIVE AND SMARTER EUROPE”
Specific Objective 1.2 “Enabling citizens, businesses, research organisations and public authorities to reap the benefits of digitalisation”
Brief description: A digital evolution pathway aimed at making the company more efficient, integrated and secure through solutions for process automation, intelligent data management, cybersecurity, predictive analytics and digital support for startups.
Purpose
SmartOps 360 was created to improve Techinnova’s digital organisation by addressing several strategic areas of the company’s operations: data management, administrative processes, document management, cybersecurity, startup assistance and internal digital skills.
In particular, the project pursued the objective of:
- integrating CRM, ERP and automation platforms into a more coordinated digital infrastructure;
- reducing the burden of manual and repetitive activities by automating administrative, operational and project management processes;
- improving document management through classification, archiving and advanced search features;
- introducing predictive analytics and business intelligence tools to support corporate decision-making;
- strengthening cybersecurity, including through encryption, multi-factor authentication and monitoring tools;
- developing an AI chatbot system to provide automated and scalable assistance to startups;
- promoting the reskilling and upskilling of technical and administrative staff.
The intervention therefore represented not only a technological upgrade, but also an organisational transformation pathway designed to make Techinnova more efficient, secure and ready to manage increasingly digitalised processes.
The project
SmartOps 360 was developed as the implementing intervention of Techinnova’s Strategic Digitalisation Plan, starting from the analysis of the company’s digital maturity and the identification of the main areas for improvement: integration of corporate systems, automation of administrative and operational processes, advanced document management, predictive analytics, cybersecurity, business intelligence and digital support for incubated startups.
The project involved the introduction and integration of interoperable and scalable technological solutions. In particular, Techinnova used Odoo as a management and transactional environment supporting certain business processes, functionally integrated with further tools within the SmartOps 360 ecosystem, including SharePoint for document management, Trello for task management, HT Nexus for workflow orchestration, AT Nexus for decision support in purchasing, business intelligence tools and an AI chatbot to assist users. The objective was not to replace all company systems with a single platform, but to build a modular environment in which the different tools can be used separately or coordinated with one another according to operational needs.

For workflow automation and the operational management of project activities, Techinnova adopted tools such as Trello, organising boards dedicated to the different work areas and facilitating the planning, assignment and monitoring of activities, as well as the management of tasks, checklists, deadlines and progress updates. In this logic, Trello acts as the operational layer of the SmartOps 360 ecosystem, helping make project management workflows more traceable and easier to govern.

To support internal collaboration, Techinnova also used Slack as the ecosystem’s communication layer, organising conversations, thematic channels, direct messages and communication flows among team members. The tool helped make coordination across the company’s different functions more orderly, rapid and continuous, supporting the day-to-day management of projects and operational activities.

In the field of predictive analytics and decision support, Techinnova planned the adoption of HT Nexus as a workflow orchestration layer, capable of connecting data, documents, tasks, notifications, deadlines and KPIs from the different digital environments. Alongside HT Nexus, the project also included AT Nexus as a vertical module dedicated to decision support in purchasing and B2B processes, distinguishing it from the broader level of data orchestration, analysis and coordination. Google Cloud AI and Tableau components also supported the analytical and predictive dimension of the project.
For monitoring digital performance and the main online KPIs, Techinnova integrated tools such as Google Site Kit and MonsterInsights, useful for analysing traffic, sessions, acquisition channels, user engagement and the performance of web activities. These tools strengthened the company’s ability to read data relating to its digital presence and to assess the effectiveness of online and communication activities more immediately.

The intervention also included the strengthening of cybersecurity through data protection tools, encryption, multi-factor authentication and vulnerability monitoring, as well as the development of an AI chatbot to provide automated and scalable assistance to incubated startups. The project activities included requirements analysis, solution configuration, technical integration, functional testing, system testing, load testing, acceptance testing and staff training, so that the new technologies could be effectively used in the company’s daily processes.

The intervention made it possible to create a modular digital environment in which individual tools can also be used independently by the different business functions. Laboratory activities, project management, communication, secretarial work, administration and events can therefore adopt only the modules most useful to their respective activities, while maintaining the possibility of connecting documents, tasks, data, communications and decision-making flows through orchestration and automation tools.
Results
Through SmartOps 360, Techinnova strengthened its digital transformation pathway, consolidating a more integrated, automated, secure and data-driven operating model. The functional integration between the management environment, document systems, task management tools, collaborative channels, automation platforms and orchestration modules supported more centralised information management, improving data accessibility, document search and continuity across operational flows.
The automation of administrative, operational and project management processes helped reduce the burden of manual and repetitive activities, improving internal coordination and freeing up resources for higher-value tasks. At the same time, predictive analytics, business intelligence and workflow orchestration tools, including HT Nexus, AT Nexus, Google Cloud AI and Tableau, strengthened the company’s ability to monitor performance and KPIs, supporting more informed decisions on purchasing, investments, planning and activity management.
The project also enhanced cybersecurity and the protection of corporate and customer data through solutions dedicated to MFA, encryption, document governance, access control and threat monitoring. The AI chatbot, based on Lyro AI Agent, represented an evolution of the support model for incubated startups and users, making assistance faster, more continuous and scalable.
The project also strengthened the secure management of information in relationships with partners, stakeholders and external parties. Document centralisation, access rules and the modular management of tools make it possible to share only the necessary information, while maintaining control over project documents and data, without requiring external counterparts to adopt the entire corporate digital ecosystem.
Human capital was also a central outcome: training, reskilling and upskilling activities supported technical and administrative staff in the use of the new digital platforms. In this sense, SmartOps 360 represented not only a technological intervention, but also a path of organisational growth, designed to make Techinnova more efficient, competitive and ready to manage increasingly digitalised business processes.
